The Gahahe washing station was built in 1989 in the Kayanza commune in the Kayanza province. This washing station collects cherries from over 1700 local coffee farmers who harvest the cherries from 423,765 coffee trees at an altitude of 1,805 MASL. The natural processing uses no water and requires more hand labour and almost double the time to dry than the fully-washed process. It's certainly worth the effort as it creates delicious floral notes with mango and cashew.
